Roles and what each can do

The owner, admin and member roles, team leads, and a full table of who can do what.

Everyone in an organization has one of three roles: Owner, Admin or Member. On top of that, a person can lead a team.

Role	In short
Owner	Full control, including billing and other owners.
Admin	Manages members, teams and inboxes.
Member	Works in the inboxes of their teams.
Team lead	A member who leads a team and manages who is on it.

An organization can have more than one owner. It always has at least one.

You can see your own role and teams in Settings › Membership.

Team leads

Being a team lead is a role inside a team, not in the organization. A team lead usually has the Member role. They can add and remove the members of the teams they lead and choose who leads them. In Reports they see the inboxes and members of their teams. See Teams and team leads.

Anyone can add tags to a conversation and set its status. Only owners and admins create, edit or delete tags and statuses.

Rules that protect owners

Only an owner can make someone an owner.
Only an owner can change another owner's role or remove another owner.
The last owner cannot be removed or made an admin. Make someone else an owner first.
An owner cannot leave. Hand ownership to an admin first. See Transfer ownership, delete or restore an organization.

Owners and admins change roles in Settings › Members, with the role menu on each person's row. See Members and invitations.
